At exactly 11:30 local time this morning (10:00 for us here in Cambridge, KW area) the sails were hoisted and I watched Mokum sail out of sight past Signal Hill and around Cape Spear. Nobody made speeches, no popping of corks, just goodbyes and waves as Mokum slipped away from the dock.
The weather was fabulous - warm and sunny - blue skies - but that will all soon change - according to the weather forecast.
I waved until I couldn't wave any more and watched until they disappeared around the Cape. I just arrived back in Cambridge and there is a message which reads HELLO WE ARE SAFE BYE BYE sent from the sat phone. Erik also sent a message which reads
SIGNAL HILL SEZ HI.
With the satellite phone they are only capable of sending text messages to a cell phone. This is disappointing because we had hoped to receive a daily report by e-mail. I will pass on any messages we receive. Probably they will report their position in longtitude and latitude so we can follow along.
That's all for now folks.
Time for a drink.
Cheers. "To Mokum"!

Hi Mokum,
We hope everything is going as well as you had planned. In the top right hand corner of the weather map it says "Java Loop" is that a drink that I have not heard of? If it is, we will have two over here! Good sailing to you all.

As Lesley reported, we were priviledged to have met up with our wayfarers in beautiful St. John's NFLD. St. John's is a wonderful place and going out to see the whales and puffins made us feel just a little bit closer to Mokum's adventure.
It was our great pleasure to see our good friend off on the journey of a lifetime.
Good luck, m'darlins. Go easy on the sausages!
